I have a lot of conversations about people starting their business & I often see this phrase ‘When I have (X) then I’ll start’. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I started Victory Front (my agency) I had zero and I mean literally zero income that could be used for anything other than rent, fuel, food, bills. Even spending every cent on necessities we struggled. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On top of that I would drive 2.5 hours a day, work 7-8 hours a day, workout an hour a day & I had responsibilities when I got home… cooking / cleaning etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had every reason why I shouldn’t start a business; No income, No time, No resources. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had 1000 reasons not to start ‘yet’ and even my closest friends said I should get out of debt first. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had only one reason to start, because I fucking wanted to. Sure 18 hour days sucked, but it’s all I had. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Quit feeling sorry for yourself, you don’t lack resources, you lack resourcefulness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you need help getting your head in the zone, comment below / send me a DM. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #start #juststart #startnow #noexcuses #beastmode #dontquit #entrepreneur #passiveincome #incomeopportunity #sidehustle #hustle #secondflow #entrepreneur #entrepreneurlife #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurial #freelancer #freelance #graphicdesign #illustration #brand #brandidentity #branddesign #brandmarketing #marketing #marketingstrategy

This is the question on everyone's lips!!!⁣ ⁣ What⁣ On⁣ Earth⁣ Is⁣ UX??⁣ ⁣ I get this question all the time. From my DMs to comments, to podcast interviews, to people I meet on the street! ⁣ And here's the things we do not have a solid, agreeable, cohesive definition.⁣ ⁣ Why?⁣ Why?⁣ Why?⁣ ⁣ We are supposed to be problem solvers that is our thing. We are supposed to be people who define, frame and solve problems ⁣ ⁣ Do a simple Google search for 'What is UX?' and you will see instead the question, 'UI vs UX what's the difference?' Google's like I'm not even gonna try…Let's distract, maybe that will work!!⁣ ⁣ Now, I'll tell you something whenever I've tried defining it in my stories, I'll get kickback like, oh you can't say that, UX is too broad, it's everything!! But the opposite of that, is that if it's all the things than it's none of the things.⁣ ⁣ What I've done here is define it into:⁣ The overarching noun⁣ The process⁣ The profession⁣ ⁣ This is to mitage the issues with it being all compassing.⁣ ⁣ I've also recognised that no, this wasn't Don Norman's intention, but we have evolved and that is okay. Evolution is a thing. And of we didn't evolve, well we'd still be in caves.⁣ ⁣ Also thank you to @cfowlerdesign for helping me out here and being my sounding board on his latest podcast episode!⁣ ⁣ Really looking forward to all your opinions and feedback.⁣ ⁣ Letsssssss do this!!! ______ ______ #uxdesign #uidesign #designthinking #designtip #designtips #usertest #designstrategy #ux #ui #uxdesigner #learnux #uxadvice #userexperience #userexperiencedesign #uxdesignmastery #uxtool #visualdesign #uxprocess #definitionofux #userinterface #userinterfacedesign #uxui #uxd #uiux #productdesign #uxresources #interactiondesign #uxlove #branding #branddesign

➡️Yes, design evolves. – – — 🕜It evolves with time & with technological advances. – – — 💼If I didn't change my career trajectory 4 years ago, then I don't think I would be working right now. – – – 🔥Yes, you need to keep up, You can't stay with your favourite styles nor with your former ways of execution. Yes it's annoying to switch software & learn new skills. This is the reality and if you can't take the heat get out the kitchen. – – ❤️But if you want to embrace it, then we are all here together to help you. – – 📱Last night I got on a call with @uxbites @anfisign and @ui.helen . We spoke about what we can do to help newcomers. What should be their career trajectory, curriculum, point of entry. – – 👩‍🏫We spoke how doing a UX course will give you the ability to solve & practice projects as you would in the real world. You also get to work with other students mimicking real life collaboration. Your instructor will guide the same way your design lead will (or is supposed to :)) – – 📂Step 1 is having that portfolio. Its okay if it's with fake projects my first graphic design binder was too. – – 👩‍🎓When hire a designer straight out of school. I look for potential. I look to see if they understand the 6 design principles, have the skills to do research on their own & can talk about why they made certain design decisions. – – 📖After that you can start using books as reference guides to grow & learn. – – 📚There's so many books out there, it's easy to get confused with how to start. Best to start with the actual UX books, then to go into psychology & business books after that. – – – 🖥️But the best thing to do is to practice & show, practice & show. Share your work here, tag a senior designer to critique. Open the conversation, it's not easy to be vulnerable but you'll get the feedback you need in order to succeed.
