How to add music and effects to your TikTok content

Once you’ve downloaded the app and signed up for an account, it’s time to get started on your first video and learn how to add text to it:

  • Once you’ve signed up for a TikTok account, go to the ‘+’ button to create your own video.
  • On the top right side you’ll see a couple of tools, including the option to flip or speed up your video. Underneath this is a ‘beauty’ button, so you can always look like the best version of yourself if you’re self-filming.

  • Beneath this are a couple of handy features. Choose from different shades, some designed for people, others food and some for different vibes. This will help create a visual identity consistent with your brand or message. For instance, choose Vibe V6 for a pink summer feel, or opt for Landscape B4, for vintage throwback feels.
  • To the left of your screen there’s a smiley face ‘effects’ emoji in the corner give it a click.
  • You’ll see that there are different effects you can add to your video, from smiley faces to interactive ideas and workout themes. Choose the theme you like and it will automatically be added to your video for filming.
  • Once you’ve chosen any specific filters you’re ready to roll. Simply press the red button and let the fun begin!
  • The maximum length of a TikTok video is 60 seconds, so there’s a lot to cram in.
  • Once your clips are recorded, you can add more filters, change voice effects or adjust clips by choosing any of the options in the far right corner.
  • Meanwhile, on the bar below you’re able to add the final touches, including the all-important soundtrack to your video.

It can take some fine-tuning, and lots of practice, but once you get into the groove of TikTok video creation, the content will flow!
