When Is the Best Time to Post Video on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn was once simply a platform for connecting with colleagues and searching for jobs, but today, it’s much more than that. Businesses and brands have been finding it an effective place to build their reputation and network.
If you want to increase your brand awareness, especially if you’re marketing to other businesses, we highly recommend using LinkedIn as part of your video content marketing strategy.
Timing your video posts on LinkedIn
As with every other social media platform, the timing of your posts can affect their engagement and conversion rates.
Because LinkedIn has always been geared towards the business world, it’s especially popular among businesses marketing to other businesses. According to a 2017 report from LinkedIn, 94% of B2B social media marketers use LinkedIn to distribute content.
Because of this largely business-oriented user base, the busiest times on LinkedIn are generally during work hours in the middle of the work week: Tuesdays through Thursdays.
When to post your videos on LinkedIn
The best way to figure out the optimal timing for your posts is always to experiment and test it yourself, because audiences can vary in their engagement habits.
However, if you don’t have the time to test, basing your video posting strategy on statistics gathered by large companies is a good bet. Sprout Social ran a study on timing for various social media networks, and found that the best time to post a video on LinkedIn is 8 a.m.–10 a.m. and 12 a.m. CST (an hour behind EST) on Wednesdays.
They found that the most consistent engagement occurs between 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: after the Monday chaos and before people sign out for the weekend.
Action Items:
1. If you can, experiment with timing when you post LinkedIn videos and see what works best.
2. If not, or perhaps to begin your experiment, post your LinkedIn videos on Wednesdays between 8–10a.m. or 12a.m.
